Over a dozen cuprite crystals are scattered across this chrysocolla covered matrix from the Congo. The contrast is wonderful: one of the reasons these specimens are so highly sought after. The cuprites are not big, only about half a centimeter, but they are undamaged, except the two one the far left side of the matrix. They are also very lustrous. I understand that some dealers have found a way to remove the surface of the cuprites to expose their red color underneath, but I prefer to leave these as they are. A great hand specimen, measuring 7.7 x 3 x 4 cm.
