This impressive, large, pink danburite crystal from Charcas measures 15 x 5.5 x 3.2 cm! The measurement does not include the custom made stand. It is by no means the largest danburite I have seen from Charcas, but it IS one of the largest pink ones I have seen. Larger crystals tend to be what the miners in Charcas call lechoso (milky). This crystal is quite gemmy for about half its length. There are two small dings on the termination, and a larger one on the back, but this is still an impressive piece. There are a few grayish calcites on the back as well. They peak across the top left of the front of the termination. While I like these calcites on this piece, it has been my experience with many danburite crystals that they can easily be removed without leaving a mark on the danburite. Apparently the calcites formed on top of the danburite after the danburite had finished growing. A very nice piece!
