Quartz
Carrara, Tuscany, Italy

Even with a movie, it is probably very hard to appreciate the beauty of this specimen. The quartz crystals are so clear, they almost disappear from certain angles. Their habit is similar to the quartz crystals I hunt in Herkimer, NY, but the matrix is decidedly different! Bright white as opposed to dark grey. This specimen measures 6.5 x 5.5 x 3.5 cm. It is covered with quartz crystals (about 20, counting the babies), the largest approximately 1.7 cm long. I have had only a few of these specimens. I don\'t think all that many are found are most probably stay in Italy. The largest crystal has an interesting contact on the right hand side. No damage.
