The datolites from the Roncari Quarry in Connecticut and Lane\'s Quarry in Westfield, Massachusetts used to be considered the world\'s best until much larger crystals started showing up first in Charcas, Mexico, and then in Dalnegorsk Russia. While this piece cannot compete on SIZE it is wonderfully gemmy (could possibly cut s dmsll stone) and has very nice color. It measures 6. 8 x 4 x 2.8 cm. A couple of small mm dings on the edges of two crystals, but overall a super specimen. It is, in fact, one of the nicest I have seen. I have seen larger pieces, many times, from Roncari, but this quality is uncommon. Collected in 1972 by Dick Pershken, a long time member of the Meriden Mineral Club. It\'s almost 50 years old!
