This simple pyritahedron of pyrite reminds me of the one and only time I visited this mine. I drove there with some friends on the way back from collecting at Pierrepont, NY. We stopped by the ZCA mine just to see if we could get in, but expecting no for an answer. To our surprise, there was no gate, no "No Tresspassing" sign at the gate, and several large dumps full of pyrite balls (up to hardball size). We spent about an hour combing through the dumps when all of a sudden a card showed up out of nowhere. He was sputtering we had to leave and leave right away. He made me pour out my backpack of specimens. Apparently he was sleeping in front of the TV and embarassed to wake up and find 5 or 6 collectors parked inside the gate in several cars. Oh well, it start out great! This has a contact from another crystal at the bottom. It measures 1.8 x 1.9 x 1.9 cm. A nice pyrite with a great simple form from New York.
