Cuprite
Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Namibia

The cuprite crystals on this specimen enclose a black powdery mineral, which is an alteration of something, but I am not sure what. The cuprites are largely octahedrons, with cubic modifications at the points. The largest are about 1 mm across. They are dark red to black, but still show some reddish in strong light. 4.6 x 4.7 x 2 cm.
