This is a wonderful specimen of hematite on quartz from Arizona. The main crystal is exactly 1 cm across and 8 mm tall...it has MIRROR bright surfaces (watch to see the reflection off the back of the crystal). It is actually a dark steel grey in color, not black. It sits at the top of the specimen, which could benefit from a little base to tilt it back just a hair. There is no damage. The little notch at the top of the crystal is a second crystal intergrown with the first. There are many more smaller crystals scattered between the quartz crystals, including a perfect hexagonal crystal just below the main crystal and at right angles to it. The specimen measures 4 x 4 x 3.5 cm. A wonderful American hematite.
