Ilvaite crystals from the Laxey Mine in Idaho are American classics and quite rare. I have only ever had one other specimen. This is a single somewhat etched (naturally) calcite crystal studded with ilvaites. The piece measures 3.9 x 3 x 1.3 cm. The largest ilvaite is about 0.9 cm long. Yes, the Russian ones are better, but do you have an American ilvaite?
