Part of the back of this large (for New York) sphalerite crystal is cleaved. You can see it in the movie. Despite this flaw, this is a wonderful specimen. Sphalerites of this size from the Walworth Quarry are rare. Because of its size and how proudly it sits on the matrix, this is one of the best I have seen from the quarry. The matrix is dolomitic limestone, and the sparkle is from the druse of white dolomite rhombs covering the limestone.
