Cuprite
Ray Mine, Pinal County, Arizona

This cuprite specimen from the Ray Mine still shows a lot of red with a flashlight behind it. The cuprites are well formed and in very good shape. I have had a small number of these specimens, always from older collections (as is this one). It seems as though chalcotrichite specimens from the Ray Mine are more common than these large, blocky crystals. The specimen measures 4 x 4.2 x 2.2 cm and the cluster of cuprites is about 1 x 1.2 cm.
