Siderite and Calcite (miniature)
0 x 0 x 0 cm
Here's something that's new to me. This is a siderite ball, botryoidal siderite in a vesicle from a volcanic rock, and surrounding it are white botryoidal calcites. So we have two related minerals, siderite and calcite, in the same vesicle. Obviously, the siderite is a larger, tanner, grayish greenish botryoidal ball, and the calcite's all surrounding it. This has been carved. The rock, the matrix, has been carved all the way around, so it sits well, still looks kind of natural. I like to see all those vesicles and everything that the rock is in. I haven't seen these before. They've come out fairly recently, or at least they're new to me, and they're coming from Vietnam. Very handsome specimens, something new. It's always exciting when something new shows up in the mineral world. That's why I love minerals so much.
